Memory Box and Miss Match

Hi everyone,

I have been super excited to have a play with some new dies from Memory Box.  Stef is now stocking these fabulous dies so gave me some to use.  Today’s card uses a couple of the dies – the Grand Heart and the  La Rue Heart.  The La Rue heart die is a really intricate die which was easy to cut out with patterned paper.  With intricate dies, sometimes it is necessary to ‘shim’ when you run them through the die cutting machine – I use a Big Shot but you don’t have to use a Big shot as there are quite a few different machines to choose from.  I just used a couple of pieces of plain white card and there was no problem.  There is a video on how to make sure you get a good cut here.

There were quite few steps to make this card but I am really happy with the result and I got to use some of my favourite products at the moment.  I had been saving the Heidi Swap Trimmings for the right project and they fitted in with this card perfectly.  The Bingo card was from the Kaisercraft Miss Match Collection, as were the doily, label and patterned papers.  The chipboard heart button is from Dusty Attic and I coloured it black with my black copic marker.  I chose the really thick twine to go along with the other textures in the card.

I die cut the Grand Heart from the patterned paper and the La Rue heart from white card stock.  I sprayed the La Rue heart die cut with Santa Baby Glimmermist and dried it with a heat gun.  I wiped up the leftover mist with the tag, dried that with a heat gun and then embossed with the embossing folder.  The background was spritzed with Mister Huey’s Mist – Manilla over  the Studio Calico Circle Graph mask, which ends up quite subtle as it is mostly covered by the other elements in the card so I don’t think you see it in the photograph that well.  The fabric under the scallops is actually an elastic bandage (bought from a chemist) that I distressed, cut and then inked with Antique Linen Distress ink.

Once all the pieces were made the card came together pretty quickly.  If you have any questions just leave me a comment.

Hope you are having a great week.

Thanks for stopping by,
