Studio Calico Butterfly Card

Hi everyone,

Today’s card is made using the gorgeous Memory Box butterfly and some Studio Calico patterned papers.  It is my entry into the CASE Study Challenge #110 where this week’s muse is Torico.  (Click here to see the CASE Study blog if you want to see her original card). I die cut the doily using the Couture Creations Alcyone Doily die out of some patterned paper from the Classic Calico Paper pad.  Once I had die cut the butterfly out of a different pattern from the same pad, I then covered it with Rock Candy Dry Glitter, which gives it a gorgeous glitter (that is so hard to capture in photographs).  I made the rosette using the Tim Holtz Rosette die out of the same card as the card base and then stamped the sentiment onto another one of the patterned papers. If you have any questions, just leave me a comment.  I am glad I finally managed to play along with the challenge as I have thought about it lots of times but just didn’t quite get there!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,

Kristy

Some more sneak peaks

Hi everyone,

Here are some more sneak peaks of some of the projects for the Weekend Workshop in October.  These projects have been designed using products so that people can either make them as is or customise them to suit their projects.  I have done a couple of examples so don’t be scared off if you don’t love hot pink 🙂 People will have a chance to experiment, have fun playing with the products and I will be able to help out if anyone gets ‘stuck’.  If you want further information, you can contact Stef at Southern Stationery.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Kristy

Daisy Faerie Marci

Hi Everyone,

I was very excited to get some new La La Land Stamps and some of the new La La Land dies last week, so had a great time getting them out and making today’s card.  I also got a set of Limited Edition Copic Sketch markers that were recently released to celebrate the 25th Copic Marker Aniversary – always exciting to get some new colours!.  I coloured Daisy Faerie Marci with my Copic Markers and added some glitter using my Atyou Spica pens.  I die cut the very cute heart picket fence and some flowers and the large flourish (which I trimmed to make the flower stems).  I was pleased with how well the dies cut out (and no, I don’t get any benefit from saying that, they just cut really well!) I can see myself getting a lot of use out of these dies.   I coloured the leaves and flowers to match with my faerie.

I made the background of the card by masking off the area using post it notes and then applied Dusty Concord Distress Ink using my foam blending tool.  I then carefully flicked a little Calico Shine, which I think makes it look like stars in a purple night sky.  I then adhered all my pieces in place using liquid adhesive and foam adhesive for Daisy Faerie Marci.  The sentiment comes on the same rubber stamp as Daisy Faerie Marci and was stamped on white card.  I trimmed it to make it like a banner and adhered it to the card using foam adhesive.

I plan to add this to the La La Land Crafts Customer Gallery as I think the theme is still stars and I am counting my background as a starry night sky.  I am enjoying starting to play along with some more themes and challenges.  Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll be back tomorrow with another sneak peek for the weekend workshop.

Bye for now,

Kristy

A Sneak Peak for October Weekend Workshop

Hi Everyone,

Two posts from me in one day! I don’t normally post twice in a day but I wanted to show a sneak peak of one of the layouts for the Weekend Workshop in October. We are going to be making layouts in different styles, using a range of different products and hopefully having lots of fun.  The food and company were great last time so I am looking forward to October.  So here it is. . .

I will be showing more sneak peaks over the next week or so.  Thanks for stopping by.

I Simply Enjoy You Card

Hi everyone,

This week has been a busy week for me with all the usual stuff but also putting the finishing touches on the layouts for the Weekend Workshop Stef is holding in October, and yesterday I made 74 yellow cupcakes for a fundraising activity the kid’s school is holding.  So I haven’t had time to make a new card for today but thought I would show a card I made a while ago that features tissue paper flowers.  This was one of the things I taught to the ladies who attended the workshop in June.  These flowers are really quick to make and super fun to spray with all kinds of mists, not just the bright ones! 🙂  I have got some fabulous new La La land stamps that I can’t wait to colour so I am hoping to get time to make some cards over the weekend.

Happy Friday!

Thanks for stopping by,

Kristy.

Magician Luka Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,

Todays card is a birthday card for one of my boys who has his birthday in a couple of weeks.  Both my older two children love the La La Land stamps so I am often stamping them so that the kids can colour them in.  Sometimes we cut them out and then they play with them like paper dolls.  His favourite is Magician Luka so I coloured Magician Luka with my copic markers.  I decided to give his shirt some stripes with my Melon Atyou Spica Pen.  I used my Spellbinders Lacey Squares Die to cut out the patterned paper and outlined it using my black distress marker.  I stamped the Happy Birthday using some clear stamps from the Save the Date stamp set by Kaisercraft.  I also stamped the banners, coloured them in with my copic markers and then cut them out.

The chevron background on the kraft cardstock was made using a Mister Huey’s mask and pressing a verasmark ink pad over it in different directions to give the slightly even/distressed look. I hand cut the balloons out of some more patterned papers from the My Minds Eye collection Lime Twist.  I love these bright papers and I chose these particular patterns because I wanted to enter add this card to the La La Land Crafts gallery and the theme for the week is Wish upon a Star.    So the star patterns and the wand of Magician Luka were a perfect fit.  You can check out the La La Land Crafts Blog here.  If you have any questions, please leave me a comment.

You are a Peach Card

Happy Friday!

Fridays always tend to be a good day I think.  Today’s card features the gorgeous Penny Black Stamp – You Are a Peach which is by Mo Manning.  I think this girl is just so cute and I have been wanting to colour her for a while since I probably got her about 2 months ago!  I coloured her with my prismacolour pencils and added in a path and some grass to my main panel of the card.  I also got out my sewing machine to give her a bit of a frame as I wanted to keep the embellishments simple so the image was the main focal point of the card but I didn’t want it to be too plain.  So some white stitching gave it some more detail but doesn’t stand out too much.  The papers and embellishments I used are from the American Crafts Dear Lizzie Collection.

Hope you have a great weekend.  I’ll be back on Monday with a copic marker card since I haven’t done one of them for a while.

Thanks for stopping by.

Kristy
