Thanks So Very Much Card

Hi Everyone,

It is coming up to the end of the school year so I have been busy making cards for the teachers of my children. ¬†Today’s card was made using a few glimmer mists, some Peacock Feathers Distress ink, some gorgeous Kaisercraft ribbon rose (I love this colour!), the Kaisercraft Script stamp, silver ink and some Jillibean Soup Letter stickers. The design is pretty simple as I wanted to let the background shine ūüôā The card base is actually an A4 piece of card folded in half to make sure there is plenty of room for the parents in the class to sign it. ¬†After inking the label piece with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, I added the shimmer by misting it lightly with a mixture of pearl coloured perfect pearls that was mixed in water in a mini mister bottle. ¬†It meant that the colour just blended really nicely too. ¬† If you have questions about the card. please let me know by leaving a comment.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Catalina Wreath and Twinkling H20s

Hi everyone,

This week I wanted to play along with the current CASE Study Challenge. ¬†This week’s muse is Angeline Yong and you can see her original card on the CASE Study blog here. ¬†I kept the basic layout of the inspiration card the same but used the Memory Box Catalina Wreath Die instead of the stamping. ¬†I cut this out of black card and then used some Twinkling H20s to give the wreath both colour and shimmer (these are lovely shimmery water colour paints that come in cute little plastic jars). ¬†I used a corrugated cardboard bird by Jillibean soup and added a twine wing and a pearl. ¬†The kraft card was stamped with a woodgrain background stamp using versamark ink for a tone on tone look and the sentiment was stamped in black archival ink.

After I posted this – I realised I had actually CASED the second card Angeline made ¬†– oh well ūüôā ¬†I had looked at the card and then was ¬†thinking about ideas when I was settling my youngest boy/working on the strategies that the sleep help centre had given us to try and get him to stay in bed – lots of stickers and ¬†praise and lots of ‘catching’ him staying in bed, so my brain must have been in a muddle.

Thanks for stopping by,

Kristy.

Twiddleybitz Advent Calendar House using Handmade Holiday Collection

Hi Everyone,

The first of December is fast approaching and my youngest boy is old enough now to have an Advent Calendar. ¬†I love the Handmade Holiday Collection by Simple Stories and so I decided to make his calendar using some of the patterned papers from the collection pack. ¬†I painted the wood with a snow cap paint dabber to give it a bit of a ‘whitewashed’ look and used Rock Candy Dry Glitter on the patterned part of the house. The boxes were cut out using my Cricut Expression and the Tags, Bags Boxes and more cartridge. ¬†The number stickers that came with the collection were not quite the right fit for the boxes in this house so I used some from the Kaisercraft Turtledove Collection – Numbers Sticker Sheet as they matched pretty well and will be easy for him to read as he gets older. ¬†If you look closely you will see that there is a couple of bits missing from the chimney section – I tidied up my table yesterday and have put them away somewhere ! ¬†When I find them it will be pretty easy to just add them on.

If you are interested in seeing the other advent calendars I have made you can click on the category on the side bar and it will bring up the other 3 I have made.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Thanks for stopping by,

Kristy

Butterfly Tag using New Distress Stains

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend, I was able to get my hands on some of the brand new Distress Stains from Ranger.  The new colours are the same as the old seasonal distress inks (which have been added to the Distress Ink line permanently, so now you can get them and the re-inkers anytime).  Some of the new colours are a lot brighter than the other distress stains, but you can use them in the same way and can easily tone them down with other colours.

For this tag, I made the background on the tag by using a bit of a mixture between Tim Holtz’s ¬†techniques Blended Stains and Marbled Stains. ¬†When the background was dry I stamped the Happy Definition stamp by Hero Arts over it using snow cap paint and then dried with the heat gun. ¬†If you leave the paint to air dry it will pick up more of the colours of the background underneath as they interact with the moisture of the paint (all distress products interact with water which is why you can blend them etc).

To colour the chipboard I applied the Picked Raspberry stain directly to the butterfly section. I used a snow cap paint dabber to colour the rest of the chipboard and then when it was dry I painted the butterfly with glue and seal and then tipped rock candy dry glitter over it.  I am in love with this glitter at the moment!  I made a pearl paint by mixing white liquid pearls and mixing it with a little of the Picked Raspberry Distress Stain, then painted it onto the flowers.

The tag was finished off with a flower, some ribbons, some washi tape, some bling and some twine that was coloured with the stains to match the tag.  The flower was left over from a different project and had been sprayed with Dylusions Spray Ink РBubblegum Pink.

If you have any questions leave me a comment and if you are interested in more information about distress stains Tim Holtz has some great videos on his blog.

Watercan Marci and Tea Thyme

Hi Everyone,

If you read my last post you will have seen that I have started experimenting with making youtube videos. ¬†I started colouring this super sweet Watercan Marci in one of my practise videos. ¬†I continued on colouring her and matched the colours to the Prima Tea Thyme patterned papers so that I could make this card. ¬†I loved this paper and wanted to make use of all the detailed border so kept it to just one piece of paper and the card stock base. ¬†I had laid everything out and was ready to stick the card together, when I accidentally smudged a little of the black ink on the paper. ¬†I didn’t really want to waste the paper or have to re-stamp it so I just modified the design a bit and luckily that Sweet Tag from the Dear Lizzie Collection worked perfectly to cover it :). ¬†In the end I was really happy with how it worked out.

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Copic Marker Video – Colouring Faces

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would share a video I have made showing how I like to use my copic markers to colour faces on a stamped image. ¬†There are different ways of using copic markers to colour and there are lots of youtube videos about,so if you are new to copic markers I would encourage you to watch a few videos and then have a play. ¬†It may take a little time but you will figure out how you like to colour and what works best for you. ¬†Have Fun ūüôā

I am still learning about the process of making videos, using youtube and embedding videos on my blog but it is good to learn new things!

Thanks for stopping by.

Copic Colours Tag Book

Hi Everyone,

I have been very busy copic marker colouring and have been making a Tag Book of some different colour combinations to make it quick and easy to pick which markers I would like to use.  So here is a picture of what I have been colouring.  So far I have mostly coloured a bunch of different La La Land Stamped images, but I have also stamped some Hero Arts Butterflies that I plan to colour in with some other colours.

Thanks for stopping by.
