December gets a bit crazy busy in our household. I think it is that way for most people 🙂 On top of general busyness I have also been posting projects over on the Stef’s Papercrafts blog and Facebook page for the week. My middle boy has also been sick with tonsillitis but he is on the mend now. I am posting a bit early this week as I need to get out to the shops tomorrow!
One of the products I have been keen to have a play with for a while is Tim Holtz’s Mirrored Sheets and this week I did manage to get some time. This piece of Mirrored Sheet was left over after die cutting a Sizzix Christmas Tree and I have a bunch of washi tapes that I love so I used it to make this card. I was suprised by how easily the mirror sheet was die cut (but it needs to be cut with steel edge dies – so wouldn’t work with the border strip dies and I can’t imagine it would work well with the thin intricate dies).
Since we are in December I thought I would make a Christmas card. I used a bunch of my favourite washi tapes to create a background and then trimmed the Mirrored Sheet to the right size. I wanted the tree and the Mirrored Sheet to be the main features of the card so just added some more washi tape along the side and some silver ribbon.
So I have decided that I am love with Mirrored Sheet and can’t wait to try out some other different ways of using it. I had a go at embossing it with an embossing folder and it worked really well. I made a Christmas Tree Ornament out of it. I have to say though it was quite tricky getting a photograph of this card without my reflection in it! There is a video of Tim Holtz talking about Mirrored Sheet here
Hope your December is going well and that you don’t get too busy!
