I haven’t posted for a little while as I have had a couple of weeks of sick children and been super busy with starting to get things organised for the Weekend Workshop in September. Sneak peaks coming soon!
I created this layout for the Get It Scrapped article about different ideas for using the ombre effect on scrapbook layouts. To create the ombre effect I used a mix of Broken China, Picket Fence, Black Soot and Weathered Wood Distress Paints on Specialty Stamping Paper. The paper is really smooth and seems to give more time for the paint to blend. It also doesn’t seem to warp as much as other card when it gets wet. I applied some paint directly to the paper but also used my kraft sheet as a palette to mix the different shades to get the effect I was looking for.
I have wanted to scrapbook this photo of some first cuddles with my youngest son. He was born early so spent a couple of days in the special care nursery. I don’t know about you but I tend to think white, soft pastel colours, texture and simplicity when I think baby. For my layout I wanted to keep things simple but still interesting so I created the white textured frame with some machine stitching, paper tearing and distressing. I kept my embellishments simple too. The main focus of the layout is the my baby boy’s face but there is still lots of room around the photo to show off the ombre background which really sets the mood for my layout. My journalling was printed on vellum. I created the title with a acetate shape that was from an old collection and cut the sweet section apart. I then adhered this to some white card and hand cut around it. It looks a little like a title that has been created with a die cutting machine as it has the two layers.
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll back soon with some sneak peaks of projects for the Weekend Workshop.
