Ninja turtles – Inspired by Comics

Hi everyone,

Today’s layout was created for Get It Scrapped for the topic ‘Inspired by Superheroes and Comics’.  This was a really fun assignment and ended up being a different and interesting way to scrapbook about my five year old’s love of ninja turtles as well as my kid’s interest in playing ‘storytelling’ games.  Check out the rest of the Creative Team’s layouts here.

My kids had fun acting out a story complete with some hand crafted costumes by my daughter in addition to the store bought ninja turtle outfit.  I made sure I captured a bunch of photos as they played and then arranged them into a sequence.  To figure out the placement of my photos I added them into a Word Document and adjusted the photo sizes til I was happy with the look.  Then I printed them onto A4 photo paper and trimmed them apart.

I created a grungy, messy style background onto my black card and used distress paints to colour some black AC thickers.  I took inspiration from the ninja turtle books that my son has for my title work and to choose the colours in my background.  There is purple, blue, red and orange splatters for each of the colours of ninja turtle and of course some green paint used with stencils too.

I added in some speech bubbles to add to the comic book look and kept my other embellishments really simple.

Thanks for stopping by,
