You are a Peach Card

Happy Friday!

Fridays always tend to be a good day I think.  Today’s card features the gorgeous Penny Black Stamp – You Are a Peach which is by Mo Manning.  I think this girl is just so cute and I have been wanting to colour her for a while since I probably got her about 2 months ago!  I coloured her with my prismacolour pencils and added in a path and some grass to my main panel of the card.  I also got out my sewing machine to give her a bit of a frame as I wanted to keep the embellishments simple so the image was the main focal point of the card but I didn’t want it to be too plain.  So some white stitching gave it some more detail but doesn’t stand out too much.  The papers and embellishments I used are from the American Crafts Dear Lizzie Collection.

Hope you have a great weekend.  I’ll be back on Monday with a copic marker card since I haven’t done one of them for a while.

Thanks for stopping by.

Big Wish Flip It Card

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend.  Today’s card is a Flip It card made using the Sizzix Diamond Flip Its Die.  This is the first time I have made a card like this and it was quite fun.  I cut the flip it card out of white paper first and then stamped one of the images from the Penny Black Stamp Set Big Wish – this set is very cute.  I then coloured it in with my prisamacolour pencils.  I am still getting the hang of how to use these beautiful pencils but they are lovely to colour with.  I then cut the flip it card again out of brown bazzill paper and adhered my coloured image to the flip it section after I had inked it with antique linen distress ink.  I kept the embellishments really simple and used some stickers from the Save the Date Collection by Kaisercraft.

Stephanie Barnard has a video showing how to use the Flip It dies and some examples if you are interested.  You can see it here.

Have a great week.  Thanks for stopping by.

A little bird told me

Hey everyone,

Here is another card using the Penny Black Stamp Set – A Little Bird Told Me and also uses some more of the papers from the Kaisercraft Miss Match Collection. The die cuts used are Sizzix Framelits – Fancy Tags and I just used a couple together to make the frame that I then covered with distress stickles and left to dry before assembling the card.  It is quite a clean looking card as there is no inking – which has now become something I do on more cards I make.  The glitter looks very pretty in real life and makes the card more striking without the inking.  I don’t know about you but I tend to  have a very long list of projects I want to make so I am hoping to get time to do some more crafting over the weekend, although my garden is needing a little love right now too as there are a few weeds and few bare patches needing some new plants.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Memory Box and A little bird . . .

Hi everyone,

Another post from me featuring some more Memory Box dies and the A little bird stamp set by Penny Black.  I really like these images and they are quite different to my other stamp sets.  I have made another card using a different one of these stamps which I will post in a couple of days.  The two die cuts I used for this card are the Vaudeville Frame and the Tender Leaves.  The frame is another example of the intricate nature of some of the dies.  I can see myself using this frame on lots of cards.  Both dies were cut out of white card and then I coloured them with my copic markers.  I made the yellow card by using Wild Honey distress ink and the foam blending tool by first blending and then stamping using the foam to give a bit of a different look.  I also made the blue background paper just by colouring using my B97 marker near the edges of the white card.  If you have any questions just leave me a comment and don’t forget if you like my cards, you can sign up to get my blog posts via email.

Thanks for stopping by,

A Boy’s Birthday Card

Hi everyone,

My youngest boy is turning 2 so I have made him a birthday card.  My baby is not really a baby anymore!  It is a pretty simple card made using the Echo Park A Boy’s Life 6×6 paper pad, some sizzix star die cuts, an Amy Tangerine paper flower and the Penny Black stamp bold b’day.  I think I have probably mentioned before that Echo Park tend to make great collections for making cards or scrapbooking for boys or men, so I always keep a look out for them as I have 2 boys now. The blog posts have been a little irregular lately as I have been on holidays but I am planning to settle back into my couple of posts per week soon.

Hope you had a good weekend.

Thanks for stopping by,

Daydreaming and Magnolia Grove Mothers Day Card

Hi everyone,

This is the card I made for my Mother in Law for Mothers Day and uses the Kaisercraft Collection – Magnolia Grove.  I coloured this Penny Black stamp with my copic markers.  I definitely think that there are some colour families that are a bit more tricky to get the blending right with and although I love this beautiful dark red R89 I did find it more difficult.  Don’t let that discourage you though!  I cut out my image with the Lacey Squares Die.  Since the white of the blending card was just too white, I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to give a more aged look that suited my patterned papers better.  I cut the patterned papers, distressed the edges, wrote on the little tag, picked my embellishments and assembled the card as shown in the photograph.

One of my favourite new products at the moment is the Prima Resist Canvas Shapes (you can get different packs – the one I have has butterflies and flowers).  I coloured one of the butterflies with my Aged Mahogany Distress Marker and then spritzed with a mixture of biscotti perfect pearls and water.  I then dabbed off some of the colour (and also a little of the perfect pearls) and then coloured with resist part with my Antique Linen Distress Marker (it was left looking a little bit too pink which didn’t quite match my card).  I shaped the butterfly wings, left it to dry and then added the pearls.  I think these shapes just give that really finished look to cards or scrapbook pages with a bit less work than stamping and embossing on canvas myself and when I am short on time that makes me happy!

Thanks for stopping by.

Penny Black Flower Girl Card

Hi everyone,

I have been wanting to colour this cute Penny Black stamp for awhile as I think she is really sweet.  She is called ‘flower girl’ and I had lot of fun making this card, even though it is a little more ‘busy’ than my usual style.  I made this card for the Copic Oz Challenge which was to be inspired by the Letter B – so my B inspiration is brown, butterfly and bling.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week!
